Meet Hilary

Hilary Grant-Currie’s art is a love letter to the land she calls home, Nestled in the heart of rural Zululand, she finds endless inspiration in its vast skies, ancient rocks, and the quiet wisdom of its trees. Through oils, charcoals and inks, she captures the soul of the landscape—the whispers of the wind, the dance of light on water, the resilience of nature.

Her passion extends beyond the canvas. As a dedicated mentor, she shares her knowledge through workshops and art classes, nurturing creativity in others. But perhaps her most heartfelt work lies in her community project, where she teaches unemployed women to craft exquisite papier-måché pieces, giving them not just skills but dignity, independence, and hope.

For Hilary, art is more than a practice— it’s a way of seeing, of feeling, of giving back. Each brushstroke is a testament to the beauty she sees and the lives she touches.

Inspired by Nature

She resides on a breathtaking property just outside Hluhluwe, KwaZulu-Natal—a piece of paradise that nourishes both her creative spirit and her green fingers. An avid gardener and horticulture enthusiast, Hilary Grant-Currie spends her days immersed in all forms of artistic expression, from garden landscaping to teaching papier-mâché to unemployed ladies as part of as empowering program, and experimenting with new mediums in her sun-drenched studio. Her home is alive with energy—art-filled, garden-laced, and often filled with laughter from her wide circle of friends.

Living Passionately

Though trained as both an archaeologist and a fine artist, Hilary Grant-Currie’s curiosity cannot be contained by any one discipline. Her passions are many: cooking, travel, storytelling, and above all, the joy of shared moments with family and friends. In every canvas she paints, there is a sense of this layered life—of histories uncovered, landscapes revered, and souls deeply understood.
